avi to dvd conversion

when converting avi to dvd computer turns off after between 5-50 minutes
depending on programme used ie:divx to dvd,win avi converter,cucusoft &
total video converter,after converting so much (varies) computer shuts down
no blue screen or error messages when computer is turned back on.
Have intel pentium 4. 2gb memory GEFORCE 6200LE 256MB DDR2 TV DVI,
computer is fully updated,i am not a novice to converting but this has me
stumped,can anybody HELP PLEASE,THANKS.

Video conversion is a very CPU intensive task. It sounds to me like your CPU
is overheating. When was the last time you opened the lid on your PC and
blew all the dust out of it with compressed air? This is the first thing I
would try - especially getting around the CPU good. If this solves your
problem, you know it's heat.
