.avi Files and Sound

We have a Canon PS S400 digital camera. It has a limited
video capability. The video files are in .avi format.
I take _lots_ of _short_ videos at our high school track events.
I want to burn the files to a CD and give the kids on the team
a CD of their performances.

I want to _remove_ the sound from the files, but haven't figured out
how. (There is no separate sound file for each video.)

Win XP Home with Paint Shop Pro. (Could get something else.)

Is there a way to remove the sound on these files?
Thanks.

First thing you need to establish is the compression format of both the
audio and video tracks.

AVICodec freeware utility from http://avicodec.duby.info/ should enable you
to do this.

Once you know what compression formats are used you should easily be able to
find a utility which will extract only the video stream and save it in it's
original compressed format.
VirtualDub is an excellent utility that can process most popular video
formats - it can be found here http://www.virtualdub.org/
