AVG and email

Ok, so far I like this AVG v6.0 but how do I get it to scan INCOMING email
in Outlook Express. I checked the plugin box and now it is scanning and
"certifying" outgoing mail but not incoming. I am using OE 6.0, could that
be the problem since the plugin says "OE5"? Thank you.

It's very possible. Why don't you try upgrading your browser and
re-installing AVG and see how that works?

The problem is that you use OE. Quit using OE (and IE) and forget
about scanning email. You'll be way ahead.

But I'm already using the latest IE and OE. If the "plugin" is only meant
for OE5 than that may explain why my incoming on my OE6 is not scanned, but
I wonder why my outgoing is?

I would try completely uninstalling and then re-installing. This may
sound like a rather ignorant question, but as I recall when I tried it
out it had check boxes to choose whether to scan outgoing or incoming,
etc. Ar the correct options checked? I may be wrong about that
because I haven't used it in ages.

In any case, may as well try the reinstallation and see if that works.

Yeah, everything is checked correctly. I've been searching Google and
evidently this is a VERY common problem. But people apparently like AVG so
much that most of them are just turning the email scanner off depending upon
the Resident Shield to catch something. My ISP scans my email automatically
anyway so I guess I'll just turn it off too. In fact, I have a test Virus
that I could send to myself using my former scanners to see if they could
catch the thing. But ever since my ISP started scanning my mail (they use
Symantec), the test Virus gets removed before it arrives to me and I get a
message inserted in my email telling me what virus was removed. Thanks for
answering.

Acadia.
