Autotextlist - no drop-down box

I'm thinking the drop down box is supposed to appear when I right-click over
the autotext term, e.g. product (where "product" is the default for the rest
of the autotext entries of "ProductStyle.") - NO DROP DOWN BOX -

I followed the MVP instructions exactly, but no drop down box. When I right-
click the autotext entry, all I get is the word "product" that I'm right-
clicking on . I'm thinking that I'm suposed to get the drop down box right
there next to the word or on the word "product" that contains all the
"ProductStyle" autotext entries - NOT.

The drop down box or a sub menu appears when I click Insert > PropertyStyle >
drop down list (of words with that style). What am I doing wrong?

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I'm working in Word 2002 - inside a template.

Where did you save the AutoText entries? Unless you specified the template
you're creating, they're saved in Normal.dot.

Suzanne,
I saved them inside the template in which I'm working. I got it to work, but
I'm not clear on it. I created three separate autotextlist entries each
containing a word to describe a product, e..g. software, testing, database.
Then when I collapsed the field (F9), I selected it and think I typed the
word product over it then clicked F3.

These entries appear as Normal Mapping (an info map style I made up based on
Normal style) on the Insert menu; at one point, they appeared as a submenu of
ProductSytle (the style I made up for these three autoentries) so I don't
know which way is correct. Would you happen to know?

For the AutoTextList field to work, you must have a separate style for the
entries in each list. And once you have chosen an item from the list, the
field is no longer present; the entry has been inserted as plain text.
That's why you should test in a document based on the template, not the
template itself.
