autotext

Dear Bob

I have tried the F3 button to auto insert an autotext entry but it doesn't
work for me as the F3 button on my keyboard automatically opens Excel - every
time!! Is there a way around this?

Who is Bob? Well, I'm not Bob, but...

In Word 2007, an alternate keyboard shortcut to insert an AutoText entry
is Alt+Ctrl+Shift+V. Or in Word 2007 you could reassign F3 to insert an
AutoText entry by clicking on Office Button | Word Options | Customize |
Keyboard shortcuts: Customize | Categories: Commands Not in the Ribbon |
Commands: InsertAutoText | Press new shortcut key: F3.

Celia, G-N-O, Bob,

Another matter to be aware of is InsertAutoText may appear to
misbehave. I have not worked out the exact pattern, but with the 20
buidling block galleries of virtually unlimeted categories is not
unreasonable that like named buildingblocks may exist.

I do know that is looks first in the attached template, then normal
template, then building blocks template (and by order of creation).

So typing some text and pressing F3 may return something other than
what you expected.

Does your keyboard have dual function F keys? If so press the F lock button
before trying to use Word F key shortcuts.
