how do I send an autoreply message "i'm going to be away"...

This is not a good idea, if you do set up such, your PC will need to be on
24/7 while away, then it will reply to all mail, including Spam.

Just switch it off and go away, enjoy yourself and forget the mail, it will
be there when you get back.

JMHO?

Also Mr Burgular will know you are away and he will be able to nick your
computer!!!

The question wasn't "should I" the question was "how". I did this all the
time at work but can't figure out how to do it on my home computer. I too
need to figure this out.

So you turn up 6 weeks later, hijack someone else's thread, then compare a
work environment to a home one.

At work your system was probably using MS Office Outlook, ($500), & the
machines where running 24/7?

What is so important, that you need to auto-respond to all incoming mail,
(Spam too) ?

Please start your own thread and explain what and why you need to do it,
along with the problems that you encounter.
