I have an encrypted drive on my laptop which when mounted always runs the
autoplay. It used to always require me to select what I wanted Windows to
do with the content every time it was mounted. When I took off 2 mp3 files
it gave me the checkbox to tell it to always do "no action". Now it does
not ask me, but it still puts a window up in the top left of the screen that
searches for about 5-10 seconds, which is annoying. I have two questions.
1. Can I modify something so that I can put my 2 mp3 files back on?
2. Can I modify as setting so that it does not do this search every time
the drive is mounted?

Thank you.

try disabling the Shell Hardware Detection Service to completely stop
autoplay. Also, you can try using TweakUI to turn off Autoplay for that
specific drive. I would try the combo to ensure it's completely turned
off.

Frodo, I am not sure how to disable the shell hardware detection service.
Also, I got TweekUI and looked through it and did not find where to turn off
Autoplay for a drive.

Could you give some more instruction? Thanks.

my computer right click | manage | services | Shell HW Detection |
properties | startuptype = disabled

tweakui | my computer | autoplay | drives

Thanks, the TweekUI plan worked nicely.
