Autoplay Handler

When I connected my Firewire Video Cam I used to get a popup window that
would let me select which action to take such as run Adobe Premiere or
Record Video. I mistakenly checked the box that say "Always perform the
selected action". Now the popup window no longer comes up and I go right to
Adobe Premiere.

There is something I can do to the registry to make XP show me the popup
window again, but I don't know what it is.

Can anyone help?

The next time you plug in your Video Cam, right-click on the drive letter
for the Cam and select Properties. Then select the Autoplay tab and choose
"Prompt me each time to choose an action".

Unfortunately, the camera does not show up as a drive letter. It shows up
under My Computer\Scanners and Cameras and if I right click and then
properties, there is no autorun tab.

When I plugged in my Camera, I have the camera listed under the Scanners and
Cameras as well. Right-click your camera and select properties, then the
Events tab, and then check "Prompt for which program to run." Then click the
apply button.

Hopefully this will help you out.

My camera is a video camcorder. My digital still camera does have an Events
tab. It is the Video Cam that's attached by Firewire that I am having the
problem with

I don't have an Events Tab, just General and Color Management.

Steve,

What is the name of the of Camera listed under Camera and Scanners in My
Computer? This is very important if you have attached more than one imaging
device to your machine such as a scanner or camera.

Could you attach a Reg file to this post? You can do this by exporting this
registry key

[HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}]

Right-click on {6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F} and select Export.
Save the file to the desktop and then attach to the post.

William,

The name of the camera is "Sony DV Camcorder" and as stated it is plugged
into a Firewire port.

Outlook Express won't let me send the attachment. It is to big (76k). Email
me at conehead(REMOVE FOR SPAM)@msn.com and I will send you the attachment.
