Autoplay Content List is Blank

S

Steve

XP Pro-All updates installed.

In the past whenever I put in a music CD usually my
Autoplay windows pops up and I can choose which program
to play the cd with. Today however, nothing happened.
When I checked my Drive E: Properties/Autoplay Tab
nothing is listed in the "Select an action to perform:"
window.
It's just blank. It used to have Nero, Media Player, Real
player, Open folder etc listed in there.

Is there anything I can do to bring them back?

Thanks

.
Thanks. I've tried that and a few other suggestions
listed on that page.
I guess it would be one thing if all the "Select Options
to Perform" items were still listed and it wasn't
working, but in this case no items are listed and I can't
seem to find anything on the net related to this
particular issue.

Hi Steve,

If you have TweakUI installed, check here: My Computer/AutoPlay/Handlers.
If not: http://tinyurl.com/h8zs

Other than that, have you checked in the registry for the handlers?
Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
AutoplayHandlers\UserChosenExecuteHandlers

Good luck!

Yes I XP powertools and I went to the My
Computer/AutoPlay/Handlers and there are things listed
there. Should I do something with those? I then checked
the Registry and I didn't have the last line ?
userChosenExecuteHandlers I only had
EventHandlersDefaultSelection.

I then tried "restore Autoplay Icons and Body (line 17)
but that had no effect either. The Content list is still
blank. I haven't rebooted. Since these changes so I guess
I better try that. Thanks

Hi Steve,

The only other thing I can think of is: Check your settings here:

Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services/Shell Hardware Detection/Return
this service to Automatic.

Other than that, you could opt for system restore.

Good luck!
