Automation Error from Switchboard

I receive occasional (random?) errors when using an Access Switchboard.
Sometimes it will kick me all the way out of Access; sometimes it gives me
the error message "The expression On Click you entered as the event property
setting produced the following error: Automation error." And sometimes it
works just fine. This is an Access 2003 db and Access 2007 program. Any
thoughts?
 
Are we talking about a switchboard in Access 2007? A converted switchboard
might gives some problems (although everything went fine when coverting).
Best practice is to recreate the switchboard in 2007.
 
No. The switchboard itself is still in 2003.
