Automating software installs

In the pro vs home edition comparisions,
(http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/howtobuy/choosing2.mspx) I always
see...
"Software Installation and Maintenance – automatically install, configure,
repair, or remove software applications."

Yet I can't seem to find any more information on this topic. Is there any
articles or tutorials on how this happens or is accomplished?

You can only take advantage of that in an Active Directory domain. Then you
can use Group Policy to assign or publish .msi software packages that use
Windows Installer and have them downloaded and installed via a share on a
server and allow them to be installed automatically or via demand even if
the user would not normally have privileges to install the application which
normally would require the user to be a local administrator. --- Steve
