automatically multiply each cell entry by a number

I'd like to be able to format certain cells so that after entering
numerical value, the entered value is multiplied by a number. M
specific application involves entering numbers read from a gage durin
testing. The gage readings must be multiplied by a certain numbe
(10^(-6)) to obtain the actual value. I know I could set up an entr
cell and place a cell with a formula next to it, but I would like t
know if I could handle it without the extra cell.

Just one option. If you are entering Micro units from test data (?? *
10^-6), one option could be to go to Tools | Options | Edit Tab | and select
"Fixed decimal Places", and select "6"
When you enter the number 5, the entered data will be 5*10^-6
