Automatically Move Read Email to an Archive Folder after reading

Is there a way to have read mail automatically be removed from the in box and
moved to an archive folder so that the in box is only unread mail?

No, why not move mail to folders by rules and read them there?

there is a setting to hide read messages - view>current view.

Or a right click option, move to folder.

My 88 year-old mom's old email program would auto-move read mail to an
"old-mail" read folder. And that software is not available now with Vista
and that is how she wants it. Anybody have any ideas if there is an email
client available that would do this?
