How do I reset it so that my computer does not log me out automatically? I'm
the only one who uses it and it's a pain to have to log back in everytime. I
can't figure it out! Thank you!

Windows does not log you out automatically. Are you perhaps
thinking of a password-protected screen saver?

No...it's not a screensaver. My screensaver comes on for about 5 minutes and
then it turns off and my screen goes black and when I move the mouse it's at
the "select user" screen and we have to click on our user name again...but we
don't have to enter a password. It's weird and so annoying and it takes
forever! Thanks for any ideas!!!!

----------
1. Right click Desktop and choose Properties from the context menu.
2. Go to Screensaver tab and untick "On Resume, display Welcome screen".
3. Click on Power.. button then go Advanced tab.
4. Untick "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby."
5. Click OK twice.

I have the same problem and have tried your suggestion and it still doesn't
work.
I have XP Pro SP3 and everything was fine untill my wife changed my screen
saver. I previously had no screen saver set.
Thanks

Make the change noted in what you responded to.

It is a screensaver setting. It's set to go to the Welcome Screen after the
screensaver activated. Doesn't matter that none of you have passwords, some
of you have passwords or all of you have passwords - it's the welcome
screen.

If it goes black - that is a power saving feature - check those settings.

In fact - follow the instructions. ;-)

Shenan,

It goes to the screen saver and then black. When I touck the mouse it goes
to the welcome screen. Password or not. Just like you describe. Except
that I have followed the instructions for both the desktop properties and
power settings. It still does it. I am thinking it is something in control
panel - administrative tools
Thanks

And the checkbox for "On Resume, display Welcome screen" under the
Screensaver tab was *unticked*?

mine says 'on resume, password protect'
but yes, it is unticked and in power options, 'prompt for password when
computer resumes from standby' is unticked
i was fine when i had no screen saver. this just started when my wife
changed my screen saver.
Thanks

Turn off the screensaver.
If it doesn't do it anymore - then it is screensaver related.

Try ticking the box(es), clicking apply, unticking the box(es), clicking
apply - rebooting.

tried to trick it and reboot it with no success.
turned of the screen saver and now have no problems.
there has to be a way to have a screen saver and not have to go throught the
welcome screen each time.
I cant figure it out.
Thanks
