At my place of business we are using SUS to deploy MS
Patches -- patches are installed everynight at 11PM. When
building a new computer something went wrong and now the
computer reboots every night at 11PM when trying to
install an old IE6SP1 rollup (Q324929). The computer in
question already has the most recent rollup installed
(Q828750). What we think happened is:
Once joined to the domain the computer downloaded the
applicable patches from the SUS server (including
Q324929). But before the 11PM install/reboot, all of the
patches were installed via Windowsupdate. But since the
patch was in the cache (and not installed since the most
recent rollup was installed) every night the computer
tries to install q324929, fails, and a reboot is forced.
Is there any way to clear the local computer's Automatic
Updates cache? Or is there some other way to fix this
issue.
