Automatic scavenging not working

The option to scavenge stale records is checked on the Win2000 DNS server,
with the interval set to 7 days, but there are still records there from
machines that I know haven't been connected in weeks or months. If I
right-click on the server in DNS Manager and select the menu option to
scavenge stale records, then the records do get scavenged. However, I
thought this was supposed to happen automatically.

Scavenging requires two separate sets of settings.

On the Server (Scavenging enabled and the internval set.)

On (each) zone (enabled and both refresh_interval and
no_refresh_interval set.)

Did you do the Zone part?

Do you have to set scavenging on all AD integrated zones of the same name on each DNS server or just one and the others will replicate and delete the records?
