Automatic repeat on Belkin USB Keyboard

I have a USB keyboard with Win2000 Pro SP4. The keyboard works fine at boot
up but after a while, the automatic repeat stops working. Unplugging and
plugging the USB connector fixes this problem.

I also receive kbdhid errors in the event viewer saying that the keyboard
firmware is bad.

Is this a problem with the USB controller? Bad keyboard? Any ideas?

Try a PS/2 keyboard. If this solves the problem then your
Belkin keyboard is probably at fault.
