Automatic name check

Guest

How do I set my system so it can recognize the first few
letters of the last name in the To box and then auto
complete the rest of the name?

I have gone to Tools, Options, Email options, advanced
email options, and the automatic name check box is
checked.

Any other ideas?

Only Outlook 2002 and 2003 have this ability. What version of Outlook are
you using?

You need to select "Suggest Names in the.." for this feature to work, the
"Automatic Name Checking" only checks against the GAL or Contacts.

Brian's reply is talking about autocompletion.
Megan's is talking about autoresolution.
Which were you asking about? If you don't know, describe the function you
are looking for more clearly and include your Outlook version.

Please provide the version of Outlook that you are using. You may have
included this in an earlier post, but without that information it is
difficult to assist you. However, if I were to guess based on your text
below, I would guess that your Profile is corrupted.
If you think that it is, you may want to rename your autocomplete file to
<profilename>.nk2 to <profilename>.nk2.bak for instance. Delete the current
Outlook Profile and create a new one, preferably with a different name than
the one you deleted. This will create a new, empty NK2 file. Next, go to
the directory where your NK2 file(s) exists and rename your *.bak file to
the new NK2 file <newprofilename?.nk2. This should help your system
registry re-attach to the NK2 file to the profile.

This process usually helps your registry re-connect your profile to your
autocomplete file.
