automatic logoff

I would like information on modifying the amount of time
Windows XP takes in logging of a user. I'm a home user
running Windows XP HE. I have administrator priviledges and
there are two limited accounts on this machine. I would
like to protect my PC by having Windows automatically log
my administrator account off when I am away or forget to
logoff myself. Any comments or suggestions will be greatly
appreciated. TIA

P.S. I would like to avoid using third-party software if
possible.

Windows XP does not have the capability of automatically logging off a user,
in a non-domain environment. You can set a password on your account, and set
your screen saver properties to require a password, once its activated, and
set the time out to the interval you would like. Other users would be able
to log on to the computer, but not on your account.

Kelly mentioned a net command for setting log on times. It supposedly enforces
the times you can be logged on and once the end time has been reached, it forces
you to log off. I've seen her post that a few times and it may still be in the
newsgroup archives here somewhere. You could try a google search for it. From
what I understand, that command works for xp pro installations, but I'm not sure
about xp home installations. If you have an NT based server, you can set log on
times for each user but that works for enforcing logging to the server as
opposed to the workstations themselves.

Ok, let's say you are correct, Doug. I've noticed in the group policy that there
is a forcelogoff when hours expire policy. If this was enabled, would it work
with the net logon commands you wrote to force the logoff?
