Can frontpage automatically create and update hyperlinked lists of files in
a directory?

FrontPage cant do it as it is only an editor but you can use code in a
webpage to do this using VBScript and or WSH depending on your server setup
and permissions.

It may be less resource intensive to simply allow directory browsing on the
server in some cases though.
