Automatic date update during running presentation

I have a presentation on a display stand which contains the day and date.

Inserting a date field and selecting auto-update only updates the day and
date when the presentation is started. If the presentation is left to run
through midnight the day and date do not change.

I think I will need some VBA code to modify the day and date on the slide
each time the slide is made the active slide but I cannot work out how.

Can anyone show me how or is there another setting in Powerpoint ?

There is no setting to do this in ppt.
