Automatic Computer clean up

Guest

Hello,

I leave my computer on overnight for convenience and run a virus scan at 4
in the morning. I was wondering if there was a way of getting the computer to
defrag my hard drive and do a diskclean up as well during the night. Is there
anyway to configure XP to do this or any free utilities that will allow me to
do this?

Thanks,

Luke

See Scheduler in help.
Though I'm dont think you could run cleanup as it requires user imput, and
its not something I would want to automate any way.

Hi, it reboots as part of the process and does the tasks first before loading
your desktop. You can/or are required to enter your account password and you
can specify whether to leave your computer running or switch off on
completion.

There are two defrag tools in XP.

dfrg.msc is the pretty one that opens from
Start\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools.

defrag.exe is the command line tool that runs from the command prompt.

defrag.exe is the one that you can schedule.
