automatic completion of email addresses

My question relates to the automatic completion of an email address to
someone to whom you have previously sent an email. After putting in 3
characters, the email address is automatically completed. Is there a way to
delete specific names from this automatic completion while keeping the names
which you want included in this service. I have caught myself almost sending
an email to an unintended person because of the same first 3 characters.

Not "click delete", "press delete". I.e., use the Delete key.
