Automatic Advance slide Transitions go away after first pass

I have a PowerPoint slide show that advances some, but not all, slides after
a time delay of a second or two. On the first pass through the show, all
works fine. I then hyperlink back to the first slide from a click on a
graphical object (a rectangle) on the last slide. When going through the
show on the second pass, it pauses on the first slide with an "Advance slide
Automatically after..." timing and remains there - that is, the timing
doesn't seem to work on the second go around.

Based on some of the other postings I have seen, I hyperlink to a slide with
a zero-second timer in attempting to reset the advance timer. I also do not
have any other animations, sounds, or things like movies to confuse the
issue. I do not have this configured for kiosk mode or automatic looping.
This is running on PPT2003 on XP Pro.

Any ideas?

When hyperlinking, PowerPoint will remember that the animation or slide
transition has been played and will not repeat again.

You will need to add a dummy slide before the first one. Then, click Slide
Show > Slide Transition. Put a checkmark on automatically after. Do NOT Apply
to All.
Now, go to the last slide. Ensure that the hyperlink is now linking to the
dummy slide.

If you have couple of hyperlinking and the slides contain animations on
them, you might want to reset everything using vba:

Holler back if you need more help.

The set up you describe should work fine! You do not need a blank slide with
0 secs transition etc this is only if you need to reset animations not
transitions.

Hard to see the problem without seeing your screen. If you want to send me
(at least) a sample of the last slide and a slide with auto transitions I
will try to sort it and report back

So your message had me looking again at the situation, and I realized that
the slide immediately in advance of the one where I wanted to reset the timer
had a hyperlink in it. When I added another dummy slide with an auto
advance, the timer was indeed reset, so I have solved the problem.

Thanks for your help, and sorry to take your time for something I didn't
immediately see.
