when I try to insert an index using automark in Word 2007, I get a window
prompting for files in earlier version Word 97-2003.
Does this mean that there is an alternative way to automatically create an
index in Word 2007 given I list of the words in the index?

The AutoMark feature may not support the Word 2007 file format, or maybe it's
just an oversight on part of the developers.

Why the file dialog defaults to doc format may reflect an oversight on
behalf of the programmers, but the automark function can also use a word
list in docx format if that's what is available.
