Autoformat incomplete

I am trying to use autoformat to format some documents that I have created
with a scanner. These are the equivalent of newspaper columns 4 1/8 " wide.
In some cases autoformat does not complete. That is, it leaves several lines
at the boittom in the original format. Does anyone know why?
Thanks
Frank C.

Yes. AutoFormat simply isn't smart enough to be useful.

Learn to use Word's Styles, so you can format manually: you will be faster
and more accurate than AutoFormat :-)

You can look "Styles" up in the Help. It will take you a day to learn how
to use them, and save you unbelievable amounts of time for the rest of your
life.

Cheers
