I've pulled in two separate sets of data on to the same worksheet. I would
like to use the autofilter on each of these data sets independantly. I
couldnt get excel to do this. Can anyone help? Thanks.

This group is Access a relation database.
If your data is linked into Access then displayed on a form in datasheet
then you can use a query with criteria to filter.

I think I found the problem. excel's filter really just hides rows - unlike
access which i'm more familiar with. i copied and pasted two sets of data
into excel to analyze them side by side, but when i hid rows to filter, the
rows dissapear for the other set of data as well...

If you leave a few blank rows between your data sets, you may be able to do
what you want. Excel filters work on contiguous ranges of data or "lists".

Completely blank row (or two...) = end of list
