Autofilter.

At work I am using Excel (office 97 & office 2000
versions) in windows 98, 98se and XP. In all cases I have
the same problem.

I am using 'Auto Filter' to find specific data. I have
searched for certain data with the autofilter function,
only to find that it isn't in the filter list. I have then
later discovered that the data was in the selected column,
but didn't appear in the filter list. As soon as I found
out this was happening I tried changing the format of the
cells, but this didn't work. If I use the custom option on
the filter the data is always located.

I have encountered this problem with other documents when
using the Filter option.

Am I doing something wrong or is there a bug?

try selecting the entire data range beofre applying the autofilter

Hessen, the auto filter will only show 1000 entries, if you have more than
that have a look here for a work around
