Autocorrect in spellcheck for WORD

My new computer will not let me save an autocorrect when I mistype something.
I apparently did not pay enought to have these privileges.

I also cannot seem to get rid of the letterhead I created and thought I was
saving as a letterhead template. Now when I open word this letterhead is the
blank page. I would like to again have a blank page when I open Word, and
then be able to use the Letterhead if I need to.

Any suggestions on these 2 fixes would be greatly appreciated since
Cyberpower who sold me the computer and Office 2007, and Microsoft who made
the software seem to point at each other as the one who should be providing
tech support.

Second problem first - search for the document Normal.dot template (and if
you do not want anything it stores as defaults) delete it. And Reboot Word
which will build a new Normal.dot by default with the default font times new
roman 12 and margins 1" 1.25 etc.

Then you see our Autocorrect is and adjust your options.

I searched the entire C drive and did not find the normal.dot file. I did
find a normal document in the microsoft word section and deleted it and then
closed and opened Word again and the same letterhead shows up as the blank
default page. I am confused by your answer to the autocorrect problem. If I
mistype a word and then select autocorrect, the program will not let me save
the autocorrect. I get a message that the autocorrect file could not be
saved and that it might be a read only file or I do not have privileges for
this.

For the second problem, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm.

For the first, can you explain what you mean by "will not let me save an
AutoCorrect"? Is the text formatted with a language for which you have
proofing tools?

Suzanne, Thanks for the response. If I have a typo like "typp", and I want
to enter this as an autocorrect. when I select the autocorrect from the
dropdown right mouse click, and then select the word and it lets me use the
full features of autocorrect, but when I click ok to finish I get the error
message that
"Your Autocorrect file,
C:\User's\Dad's Computer\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Office\MSO1033.ad, could
not be saved. The file may be read-only, or you may not have permission to
modify the file."

Does this help to clarify. It doesn't seem to want to accept any changes.
Thank you. Jaime

The file extension for AutoCorrect files is actually .acl rather than .ad,
but, that aside, on the face of it, the message is telling you that the
AutoCorrect file can't be written to. If you have checked the file and it is
*not* read-only and is in a folder that you have Save access to, then it may
be damaged. I'm not sure where you would find the comparable command in Word
2007, but in Word 2003, I would suggest using Help | Detect and Repair.
