AutoComplete Outlook 2002

Mike

I would like to send email using an abbreviation, such as
bb , as opposed to typing the full email address
(e-mail address removed).

I created a new contact by filling in
(e-mail address removed) in the email field, and bb in the
display field under new contact. However, when I attempt
to send an email to user bb I get a message that states
that microsoft outlook has more than one "bb" listing. It
then allows me to choose from listings such as #bbrbs or
bbbr, and will not let me send the message. Is there a
way around this issue while keeping the bb shortcut?
Thank You,
Mike

You cannot customize an autocompletion entry like that. Autocompletion will
key off the actual name or email address only in messages you have actually
sent. It does not use your address book.

In theory, you could instead use autoresolution for this. Manually resolve
"bb" to an address in your address book. That resolution should be saved and
used from that point on. My experience, however, is that now that
autocompletion and autoresolution use the same name cache, manual
resolutions are no longer saved or recalled. I'd love to know if anyone has
found otherwise.
