Hello all,
i have created an auto text list which has choices for 2 fields in my
documents. this has made the list way too large. i was wonder if it is
possible to have more than one auto text list. if there is could you please
direct me on where and how to do this.

AutoText entries are categorized based on the style they were created
in. So you should be able to add the \s switch to the AUTOTEXTLIST
field code and specify the name of the AutoText category (style name)
that you want to use.

i have gotten it to work with your help. thank you! i now have another
situation thats has risen. i have done all of this in a template so others
can use the autotext. my original list they can use. the 2 new list do not
show for them. the original and the defaults from word show for them now. any
suggestions.

If you created autotext lists in Normal.dot ... would all documents
have the autotext list ability ?

Only on your own PC.

i have added words to the auto text by: insert- auto text- auto text- enter
auto text here and click add. then went to tools- templates & addins-
organizer- auto text tab and copied from normal.dot to the other, and my list
shows on other computers. my doc is a template. the only draw back to this is
my list is now double on my computer.? i tried this with the styles but my
lists i have created the other way stated from
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/tblsfldsfms/AutoTextList.htm will not show on other
computers.?

The procedure is (or can be) exactly the same in Word 2003. Try printing out
the instructions and following them carefully.

Make sure that the style exists in the "other" (target) document.

stefan,
i have added my 2 new styles thru the organizer and still nothing showing on
the other computers. is this where you meant or is there some where else to
do this?

I meant the document where you are using the AUTOTEXTLIST field. I
guess adding it to the template(s) used would be convenient for future
use.
