I looked at the article but it doesn't seem to mention

this auto shutdown problem, just a security risk. Does the
shutdown occur if you are being targeted? Does the patch
fix the problem?

yes it does repair the problem it, and yes it occurs

because of a virus.

This is not enough! You must also disconnect from the Internet and
remove the worm. See my other posts for instructions.
