Auto Row Height - How?

How can I have the Row height automatically increase when text wraps in the
cell?

When I try to manually increase the row height to fit as advised in Help,
i.e. by double clicking the boundary the row resets to single row height
(12.75 pixels) ignoring any wrapped text.

Auto row height does observe wrapped text, unless a merged cell is involved.
One of the problems with merged cells.
