Auto re-numbering when a row is deleted

Mister Charmin

I have a 42 column spreadsheet. Column 26 is a sequentially numbered column
of data from a specified starting point (i.e. 1001 throiugh 1875). Is there a
way to get the column of numbers to auto renumber itself when a row is
deleted (i.e. if row 27 (currently contains number 1023) is deleted can the
data auto renumber so that row 27 now still contains number 1023 and the last
row of the column is numbered 1 less than original-1874?). I can manually do
this by going in and renumbering all of the data rows but is there a way to
use a function of some sort such that the cells will renumber themselves? I
have tried several approaches but any time a cell reference is used in the
functions the (#Ref) error message results in all subsequent rows as soon as
the row is deleted.

WOW Im so glad you asked this!! It never occurred to me that this was an
option---I always just went in and renumbered every time...didn't take long,
but THIS is so much better!!!
