After a computer has been idle for a current period of
time I would like the computer to automatically log off
the user. This is a security function. I thought it was
under group policies but i can not locate it

Thanks in advance for your help

I am not aware of a policy that will automatically log a user off. In order
to secure an idle workstation you can enable a Screen saver policy that will
lock the workstation when it has been idle for a certain period of time.
This policy can be found under
Password protect the screen saver
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Display

If you look around the internet you can find "screen savers" that log off
the current user. Then after the workstation has been idle 15 (or however
many) minutes, the user is logged out. You can mandatorily enforce screen
savers and timeouts via GPO.
