Auto invoice number

I need to automatically generate an invoice number into a cell. Once the
sheet is opened, I need it to lock the invoice number.

Since you're using the terms "cell" and "sheet", I must guess that
you're using Excel. If so, Microsoft's Help system has landed you in
the wrong newsgroup: this one is for the database program Microsoft
Access.

Please use the dropdown box (the one that says "Access" by default)
to select a more appropriate newsgroup, such as one in the group
microsoft.public.excel.*

Access might actually be a better choice for an invoicing application;
if that's what you're doing, or if you are interested in doing so,
please post back.
