I periodically need to type part numbers into a cell. If
the number I type in can be interpreted as a date, Excel
will automatically change it to a date format. How do I
turn this annoying feature off? I cannot even go into
formatting and change the cell back to a general format
without it erasing what I have put in that cell and
replacing it with its "sample". Any help someone could
give me on this would be greatly appreciated. To respond
to my e-mail you must remove the "xx". Thanks,

Jim
