auto filter not working

Hi, I am using auto filter and it stoped working. It is activated and I can
see the arrows at the top but nothing happens when I select the arrows. I am
using data validation, does that interfere with auto filter or could
something else be keeping it from working?

Is the worksheet protected? If so, depending on your version of Excel, you may
not be able to use AutoFilter, even though the arrows are visible.

In XL2002, you have more options as to what the user can and can't do, but in
earlier versions you don't have that luxury.
 
It is excel 2002 but the work sheet is not protected. Cells are selected as
locked but that doesn't matter does it?

I had removed earlier and then re-filtered with no effect before. I did it
again just now and its working fine. I don't understand but I won't argue it
either. It seems to be fixed. If anyone knows a reason I'd appreciate it.
If not, hey it works! thats well enough.

Cell locking is only relevant if the worksheet is protected, so no, it
shouldn't matter.

Have you tried turning off filtering, then turning it back on?
