Auto Disconnect Pop-up

Auto Disconnect –

I use Windows Me and IE 6.0. How can I eliminate the pop-up window called
Auto Disconnect?

I have attempted suggestions offered by my ISP which is AOL and tried some
suggestions from knowledge based articles by Microsoft, but nothing seems to
work.

How does this relate to IE, please? When do you get this "Auto Disconnect"
prompt? Is it a dial-up, DSL or cable connection?

What suggestions from AOL or MS KB articles have you tried?

How to Enable the Auto Disconnect Feature in Internet Explorer:

<QP>
The Auto Disconnect feature is designed to terminate the connection to your
Internet Service Provider (ISP) after a designated period of inactivity. In
addition, it prompts you to disconnect from your ISP after you close all
instances of Internet Explorer.

When you change the Auto Disconnect option, the setting may not take affect
immediately. You will need to close Internet Explorer and disconnect from
your ISP. When you reconnect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP), the
settings should take affect.

PA Bear -

Thanks for your return.

AOL has a menu that gives me three choices for its AOL dialer:
1. Always stay connected.
2. Always prompt me if I want to stay connected.
3. Always disconnect me after xx seconds (you supply the seconds).

I have a check mark next to number 1.

The Microsoft article you referenced is the one I had found. I did try what
it said, but the pop-up message still appeared. The Microsoft article seems
to address the problem of enabling Auto-Disconnect to work. My problem is
just trying to get the pop-up message to disappear.

Try deleting the dial-up connection and then re-creating it?

Crossposted to WinME General for their take on the problem, as it's really
more OS-specific than IE-specific.

Thanks for your return. My solution is somewhat complicated because I use
AOL which integrates Int. Exp. in its program. So, when I go to pages after
"Dialing," I am sent to an AOL type of page that has different wording.

So, what I have done to date, is to reinstall AOL and I think the problem is
now solved. Although, I need to test it a bit longer.
