Auto correct

I have unknowingly made a change to the way I edit my document in Word. If I
start to rewrite a portion of the document, it delets the next letter as I
type, forcing me to retype the rest of the sentence.

Another problem is that I used to be able to highlight a word or phrase, hit
backspace and it would delete. Now, when I hit backspace, it merly
un-highlights the selection.

Note; I can edit this message the way I prefer.

Thanks

There are two options that control these things -- but neither of them has
anything to do with AutoCorrect.

- The first is that you're in Overtype mode instead of Insert mode. The Insert
key switches between modes, and so does double-clicking the letters OVR in the
status bar (which turn black when you're in Overtype mode and gray when you're
in Insert mode). Instead of retyping the rest of the sentence, just press Insert
(again) and continue typing.

- The second option is in the Tools > Options > Edit dialog: click to put a
check mark in the "Typing replaces selection" option.

Since these are Word options, neither of them affects the way you type in your
browser.
