Auto compare Word 2003

I have 2 documents to compare side by side. Instead of doing it manually,
reading each word and punctuation, is there a feature in Word 2003 that will
compare 2 documents automatically?

Thank you for your tips.

Yes there is.
Go to Toools
Compare and Merge documents (in dropdown menu)

But be aware this is a very limited feature compared to a professional
compare programme. It is not word by word and will mark up whole paragraphs
if more than a certain amount of text is changed.

It depends on your specific requirements.

In my opinion, the Compare and Merge Documents function does work on a word
by word and character/character basis.

The best process I have found is to open the old version of the document and
compare this with the newer version. Then the “new text†is red/underlined
and the “old text†which has been deleted from the new document will be
indicated by a strikethrough.

2003 is better than 2000 with this function when working on tables. 2000
would highlight the whole row even if only a comma had been addded, where
2003 indicates the word/character that has been changed.

Hope this helps, best of luck
