what is the purpose of "NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users"
group nested in the local users group ?
 
Similar to the everyone group except that they have to be authenticated.

A group that includes all users whose identities were authenticated when
they logged
on. Membership is controlled by the operating system.
 
Quick response.
Don't use it unless you have to.
User logged into win98 machine is "Authenticated" and will
have access to whatever "NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users"
is allowed to access.
 
Only if they authenticate to the computer they are trying to connect to as in
they have a user account with the same logon/password that the user uses to
logon to their W98 machine. --- Steve
