We have a clustered file server hosting home directories of users. What is
the best method to audit file access in the cluster ?. Windows 2000 auditing
generates enormous amount of events and becomes unuseful at times.

Are there any third party products to do file access auditing ?

There are few auditing tools out there for MS, because they would just
leverage the MS security hooks for auditing anyway. You should be able to
get the info you need without too much garbage info if you filter out
unnecessary audit events. What kind of file access are you trying to audit?
