Right-click the speaker in the system tray then click 'Adjust Audio
Properties". If you don't see the speaker, open Control Panel and click
on 'Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices' then select 'Sounds and Audio
Devices Properties'. The 'Sounds and Audio Devices Properties' window
will open. Select the 'Voice' tab. Under the 'Voice Recording' section
click the 'Volume' button. This brings up the 'Recording Control' window
- look for the 'Microphone' section. If there is a Mute box that's
checked, uncheck it. If there is a 'Select' box that's unchecked, check
it. There may also be an 'Advanced' button - click it to see if there
are any other settings to change. You may see a setting called 'Mic
Boost'. Some microphones require this to be checked - try it first
without and if your friend can't hear you then try checking the box.

Lastly, make sure the microphone is plugged into the RED (or PINK) audio
connector.

Good luck,
HJS
