Update. I haven't seen any responses yet. Anyone know what is going on?

Nice to see someone on the newsgroup from the vineyard! I spent 3 months
there making ice-cream in Oak Bluffs last year! I hope you guys get better
weather during June this year!

If I lost sound after an update I would probably go look for the latest
driver from the vendor website and install.

Hi Fred.

Yes, I've encountered this both at work and at home on different computers.

It only affects the start up Windows logon sound at boot. Audio otherwise seems
unaffected.

To discover as to which update causes this, I will have to rebuild my home PC
and install each one separately and check if the sound disappears.
