Audio/sound suddenly gone

I'm desperate and am pleading for help. I have had my hp
mx50 for about 4 years now. We recently installed an
Ethernet card so we could acess SBC DSL Yahoo. Now our
volume control is missing and we have no audio. We have
tried several things including the BIOS adjustment and
hooking the speakers to something else. (the speakers
worked when hooked up to a game boy but when we hooked up
headphones to the Computer there was nothing. It appears
the sound card is built onto the motherboard. When we
check the harddrive it seems like the audio has simply
vanished...what are my options???boop
 
Hi BettyBoop,

There may be IRQ conflict, check system properties
and device manager.

Also look into event manager.
