Audio "Skips"

A

alert

When I saved my movie to tape in my camcorder the most recent audio
that I put into it skipped throughout the songs. I converted these
songs to .wma files via Roxio East CD Creator 5.

The first set of songs I used do not skip and play fine. I don't think
I used Roxio to convert those (I stumbled through the proces at the
time -- trying anything -- and cannot remember exactly how I converted
those files). I have Windows Media Player and MUSICMATCH Jukebox but I
cannot figure out how to convert regular music file from CD's in
either of those two programs.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Ed,

You do not say what the original format is for your audio files.

Music Match will not convert to WMA, they support the newer format MP3PRO
instead. Music Match will convert freely between the formats it does
support whereas Windows Media Player has a very restricted Copy option
which restricts it to copying to or from CD's...not a very imaginative
approach. To convert using WMP you would have to create an audio CD and
then get WMP to copy it back to the WMA format. Use the search word encode
in the WMP help file will present you with what at first looks like the
answer...but using the links within the help file you find that you go
around in a circle reading definitions, but no actual method.....

You can of course convert your audio files to WAV files using MusicMatch.
The WAV format takes a lot of space but will import to Movie Maker.

I'm using regular music CD's that I play on my home stereo system.

HI there,

OK, using MusicMatch (my preferred program) Capture the audio to the WAV
format and import that to Movie Maker. I always think of the WAV format for
audio as equivalent to DV-AVI (Video) There is no real compression,
therefore you are giving Movie Maker the best possible start.
