Audio Problem

After I reloaded XP on my new drive the Control Panel said No Audio Device
Installed. Finally found a Driver on the MB cd, which solved the Player
problem. But when I install it the whole system speed slows dramatically.
Unload the Driver and it's back up to full speed. I'm at a loss.

Gather info on the name of your sound device. start/run, type: msinfo32. see
Components/Sound Device. Look on the web for the page of the maker of the
device, to see if a driver for windows XP exists. The Windows Update site may
have one.

Nothing is even listed under Sound Device. Isn't that a little strange since
Media Player came with XP?

It's possible the Motherboard has a physical jumper to move for enabling the
onboard sound.

I never changed anything on the MB when I added the new HD and installed XP
on it. And everything worked fine before. I know this isn't the same driver
as before. I don't know what the 1st one was but I know it wasn't this one's
name. Sor for now I'm going to start uninstalling offline programs 1 at a
time and see if any of those might be the problem.
