visitors can download and listen to them?

Any and all files can be 'imported' into FP
Import several files of diff formats and test with them
 
Yes. Open your frontpage web, import the audio file, create a hyperlink to it.
Publish the page and the audio file. click the link, it will either play
"online" (called 'streaming') or it will download to the place you choose to save
it, then you can open it by double-clicking and it will play in the default
player for the file format it is. e.g. quicktime, windows media, real player etc
etc.
