Audio Driver, XP Theme does not load on restart...Please Help!

I was trying to speed up my girlfriends comp by cleaning out the startup
programs using "run...msconfig". After I did this, upon restart, the audio
driver was not recognized (Control Panel). Other things that have ceased to
work right:

- Windows XP theme is no longer an option, only Windows Classic
- The printer was not recognized when trying to print, and when I tried to
reinstall the printer software, AutoPlay would not open when the CD was put
in the drive
- Whenever a sound should play, i get the internal error beep from the comp
- The internet, word, and other files seem to be working fine

I using the Dell CD to reinstall the audio driver, and it appears as if the
files are there, just not the function of the software.

I tried messing around with the msconfig startup to be in diagnostic,
normal, custom modes. I have tried every combination of settings so I dont'
think its something in there.

What I think is missing is the link between loading the hardware at startup
and having it run when windows starts. Like there should be a file that
loads to recognize all the connected hardware or something like that.

What's my best bet here? Thanks all for your help.

Windows System Restore program

Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore

Do a System Restore to before you "helped".
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore and then
"restore my computer to an earlier time"

I tried the system restore earlier, but unfortunately she did not have it on
for some reason. I turned it on, but can only restore it to the point that I
turned it on (which is after the problem began).

Sorry I left that info out.

Well, then I guess you're going to have to use msconfig to enable
absolutely everything again. There is no way that people in this
newsgroup can know what you did. If you can't get the computer running
right, take it to a professional computer repair shop (not your local
version of BigStoreUSA). Of course you - and not your girlfriend -
should pay for this.

That's the reason why msconfig is a tweaking utility, NOT the way to
cleanup startup items.
